Account & Billing
Sign up and sign in
Section titled “Sign up and sign in”TrueTopo uses Clerk for authentication. The identity portal is hosted at:
- Sign in: id.truetopo.com
- Sign up: Create an account from the sign-in page
You can use email/password or OAuth providers (e.g., Google) depending on configuration. After signing in, you receive a session token that the map app uses to recognize you and enforce Pro features.
Why sign in?
Section titled “Why sign in?”- TrueTopo Pro — Subscription: all premium layer groups, Snow Intelligence (where enabled), offline/waypoints/slope where available, and all panel kits
- Expansion packs — Fish Pack and Hunt Pack are sold à la carte (annual); other premium groups are included in Pro (see Expansion packs & pricing)
- Account management — Manage payment method, subscription, and invoices via Stripe Billing Portal
- Saved state — (Planned) Saved maps, waypoints, and preferences
You can use the map without signing in: base layers, search, and Opportunity Score work for everyone.
Payment flow
Section titled “Payment flow”1. Choose an upgrade
Section titled “1. Choose an upgrade”From the map app or marketing site:
- Click Upgrade to Pro or Unlock on a locked layer pack or panel
- Or go to www.truetopo.com and choose a plan
2. Sign in (if needed)
Section titled “2. Sign in (if needed)”If you are not signed in, you are prompted to sign in or create an account at id.truetopo.com. Checkout requires a valid session.
3. Checkout
Section titled “3. Checkout”The app calls stripe.truetopo.com (the payments Worker), which creates a Stripe Checkout session. You are redirected to Stripe’s hosted checkout page to enter payment details.
- Success: Redirect back to app.truetopo.com with entitlements updated
- Cancel: Return to the app without charging
4. Entitlements
Section titled “4. Entitlements”After a successful payment, Stripe sends a webhook to the Worker. The Worker stores your entitlements (plan, packs, kits) in Cloudflare KV. The map app fetches entitlements on load and when you return from checkout.
Plans and products
Section titled “Plans and products”Summary:
| Product | Type | What it unlocks |

The Billing Portal link is provided by stripe.truetopo.com/portal (requires a signed-in session). The Worker creates a Stripe Billing Portal session and redirects you to Stripe.
Panel kits

Security and privacy

- Auth — Clerk handles sign-in; JWT tokens are used for API calls.

Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”“Pro features not unlocking after payment” — Wait a few seconds and refresh. If entitlements still do not update, ensure you are signed in with the same account used at checkout. Contact support if the issue persists.
“Checkout fails” — Ensure you are signed in before starting checkout. The Worker requires a valid auth token.
“Can’t access Billing Portal” — You must have an active Stripe customer record (created at first checkout). If you have never subscribed, use Checkout first to create the record.
